POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS


POST-OPERATIVE OPHTHALMOLOGY ORDERS

1. If you have a patch on your eye, do not take the patch off until your appointment tomorrow. Do not put any eyedrops in the eye that had surgery today.

2. Resume all your usual medications for your medical problems.

3. If you take eyedrops in the eye that did not have surgery today, continue taking those eyedrops in the usual way.

4. Avoid heavy lifting and bending over.

5. Do not get water in the eye until your doctor allows you to do so.

6. Resume your normal diet.

7. If you have pain, you may take extra strength Tylenol. Do not take aspirin or Motrin. It is common to have mild pain after eye surgery.

8. If Tylenol does not relieve the pain or you experience any other serious problems, call our office at 415-923-3007. There is an on call doctor available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For eye emergencies after 5PM please call 415-923-3007
